Dear Dr. Ravi D. Goel, M.D. Medical Graduate Scholarship Family,
Thank you for selecting me to be the recipient of the Dr. Ravi D. Goel, M.D. Medical Graduate Scholarship. Your investment in my education will be put to good use as I continue to advance in my pharmacy career and academics. Donors such as you allow me to pursue my goals and allow me to excel in my studies and to overcome financial hardships that would have impacted my learning.
I am a current 4th year pharmacy student at the UofA R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy, I have made sure to apply myself in several opportunities that would strengthen my roots patient centered pharmacy care. My current GPA is 3.5 and I've recently been admitted into the Phi Lambda Sigma honor leadership society. I've also held leadership positions in the Student Society of Health System Pharmacists and Kappa Psi business fraternity, including Regent “President” and VP of Fundraising. My most recent accomplishment has been completing the leadership certificate at the UofA College of Pharmacy and working with the UofA College of Pharmacy as a PharmD Ambassador. My involvement within the college of pharmacy and throughout my leadership roles has inspired me to be a preceptor when I graduate, so that I may continue to be a leader and educator. I am confident that holding a leadership role is what I want as I have always found fulfillment in being a leader as well as educating others.
My academic career includes a bachelor's degree in Bio-Medical Sciences and minors in chemistry and anthropology. During this time, I held a career in pharmacy as a certified technician at NAU Health and Learning Center Pharmacy, CVS Health Pharmacy, and most recently Reed’s Compounding Pharmacy. These experiences have taught life lessons and expanded my knowledge in the pharmaceutical practice. My goal this upcoming year is to continue to expand my pharmaceutical knowledge my learning during my internships “APPE’s” and pursue my dream in owning my own independent compounding pharmacy.
The values that were taught to me through Sigma Chi have shaped my identity. Through the three values of friendship, justice, and learning, I have developed into a more compassionate and principle driven individual. The value of friendship has taught me the importance of building genuine connections within the community and with my peers. The value of justice has taught me to approach conflicts in an unbiased way and has shown me to stand up for what is right. Finally, the value of learning has taught me that learning does not stop with school and that it is important to remain a lifelong learner, which has encouraged me to continuously seek knowledge and personal growth. Sigma Chi's values have not only enhanced my college experience but has also helped me grow to be someone that I am proud of.
I cannot thank you enough for selecting me to be your recipient for Dr. Ravi D. Goel, M.D. Medical Graduate Scholarship. I assure you that your investment will allow me to fully focus on my final school year of internships and will help me to achieve my dream of opening my own compounding pharmacy.
Sincerely,
Jarrod Hise
