My Testimonial

Receiving this scholarship is an an honor that I do not take lightly. This will alleviate some financial burdens that will allow me to focus more time and effort into my academic pursuits. Furthermore, I am especially grateful to be recognized under the Thomas Cowan Bell Scholarship as this founder stands for wisdom. I find that wisdom is not easily gained, yet it should always be pursued. This scholarship not only gives me more means to work towards achieving wisdom in certain areas, but it also gives the motivation.

Specifically about Sigma Chi, this scholarship is a reminder that I am part of a community and family that values each other’s potential. I am extremely grateful to have been recognized through this year’s scholarship application cycle, but that does not mean that the applicants to receive the scholarship are the only ones who were qualified. Many brothers across the nation demonstrate traits that we value in Sigma Chi, such as wisdom, high-ambition, integrity, etc., and I think it is important that we all remember this. It can be easy to forget what values each brother possesses due to the responsibilities and obligations of every day life, but this scholarship will help me remember that each brother can easily contribute something positive to everyone one of our lives and we cannot forget that. I had noticed the wide range of qualities found in each brother in my chapter before I had even joined. The reason I joined Sigma Chi instead of another fraternity was because these brothers appeared to be more well-rounded and responsible individuals. By remembering the potential found in each brother, we can grow to become even better students, friends, family members, and people in all aspects of our lives, and this scholarship is the perfect reminder.
